Twenty fire fighters from Ankara's Fire Brigade are participating at CBRN training in Mikkeli this week. Training includes lectures and exercises for chemical, biological and radionuclear detection, identification and decontamination.

Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) awards a new significant contract to Environics Oy for CBRUGS (Chemical, Biological and Radiological Unattended Ground Sensors) program. Environics wins the contract after international tendering phase. The value of contract is 3.8 million of Euros.
The sensors of CBRUGS system detect chemical (TIC, CWA), biological agents and radiation. Different type of sensors together with weather station and DC power supply equipment form a field deployable unattended CBRN Measuring Unit. Each Measuring Unit transfer its data via radio communication system to the Command Post Control Computer.
“With field deployable unattended ground sensor system (CBRUGS) situational awareness, required in Defense Forces actions, can be increased. Field deployable ground sensors are also suitable for supporting other authorities and international crisis management operations”, says Major Mikko Elo from the Finnish Defence Forces.

Environics has received a new Purchase Order for two CBRN reconnaissance vehicles from Loew Brant Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based supplier for high-quality products for defense industry in Asia. Environics will integrate complete CBRN Reconnaissance Systems including Environics’ core sensor technology, third-party analyzers and even personal decontamination showers to MB Sprinter platform. Deliveries to the end user, Indonesian Army, will take place at the end of this year.
New version of Environics’ Master Module has now been released. The Master Module provides novel networking solutions and reliable data communication for safety and environmental monitoring systems. The intelligent Master Module collects data from various sensors and adapts it into TCP/IP networks. The new Master Module version has two new optional interfaces available; 8 RJ45-port integrated Ethernet switch or 6 RJ45-port (4poe) integrated Power Over Ethernet switch and it also provides new web portal tool for Master Module configurations.

Massachusetts HazMat owns over a dozen ChemPro100is that they use as a “super sniffer” and gas/vapor classifier and identifier for routine HazMat calls. But the ChemPro100i also is a Chemical Warfare Agent (CWA) detector that can help to detect and mitigate potential terrorist events using both CWAs and Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TICs). Because Massachusetts HazMat relies on their ChemPro100is for everyday responses they did not want to take them from all their HazMat rigs across the state to support the enhanced response to this year’s Boston Marathon. David Ladd, Director of Massachusetts HazMat, asked Environics USA if it was possible to loan them some ChemPro100is for the event. Environics USA periodically provides their demo fleet to good customers to support national level events so 14 units were loaned to Massachusetts HazMat for the Boston Marathon. David said “Environics USA’s generous loan of 14 ChemPro100is allowed us to keep our normal ChemPros on our trucks and still support the marathon effort without compromising our ability to respond to routine HazMats across our state.”
