Microsensors

Environics has long experience to combine chemical sensor technologies for portable detectors as well as for large systems. As a consequence, strong expertise in sensor technologies and pattern recognition algorithm solutions has evolved.

Environics has specialized to apply and develop metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) gas sensors. Over 15 years experience is based initially on the screen-printed thick film sensors (named as SCCells in Environics' products) and has recently focused to modern micro-MOS sensors based on micro hot-plate platforms. The operational principle of the MOS gas sensor technology is the resistance change of the gas sensitive coating in high operational temperature due to adsorption and chemical reactions on the sensor surface. The MOS sensor technology has proven to be useful for detection of mustard gases, cyanides and many TICs. When MOS sensors are combined with IMS, these two technologies accomplish excelently each others by means of detection capability and outdoor condition concerns.

Recently Environics' sensor technology know-how has emerged to novel semiconductor gas sensors based on the field effect transducer as well as to surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors that have characteristically low operational temperatures.

Environics can provide its own high-tech sensor platforms, packaging solutions, sensor algorithms and special electronics for all wide range of different gas sensor technologies. Basically, this existing know-how can be utilized for the development of sensors for new applications and new threats. Furthermore, the deep technology expertise facilitates continuous improvement of the existing solutions to keep the products' life-cycle costs in minimum but the technology state-of-art continuously ahead competitors ."
