Solutions for CBRN Reconnaissance

CBRN Reconnaissance is key to the military contamination avoidance mission providing information about CBRN hazards within an area of operations for command-level decision making. Usually five critical tasks are performed: Sampling, detecting, identifying, marking and reporting. Related tasks are decontamination and CBRN protection. The CBRN troops conduct the mission to confirm the presence or absence of CBRN hazards.

The CBRN reconnaissance troops require field usable, accurate and sensitive detection and identification equipment, protective equipment, sampling devices and decontamination systems in order to carry out their mission. Proper operating principles and correct usage of the equipment are essential for mission success. In case of a contaminated area, the troops should be able to mark the area according to standardized methods and report accurate information to their higher headquarters.

Typically, the CBRN detachment might include several CBRN patrols with different capabilities. Patrols can move with either armored vehicles or lighter vehicles.
